Vic Country V Vic Metro

Uncovering Bushrangers of the future

The series of matches between Victoria Country and Victoria Metro at under-17 and under-19 levels is a vital part of the Cricket Victoria pathway program and underage talent identification that identifies the skill of players under match conditions.

Selection for the state teams for the National Youth Championships (under-17 in Hobart and under-19 in Adelaide) will be decided after viewing performances in the Country V Metro series.

Players are tracked through the established pathway systems as well as performances at the winter Academy and Diamonds in The Bush programs to be selected in the two sides.

Training sessions are conducted throughout winter and concludes with fitness testing in early September whereby the two teams are chosen.

From the 2016-17 Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers squad, the following players have come through the State Youth/Academy Program;

Scott Boland, Jackson Coleman, Xavier Crone, Travis Dean, Seb Gotch, Sam Grimwade, Peter Handscomb, Sam Harper, Ian Holland, Jackson Koop, Glenn Maxwell, James Muirhead, Tom O'Donnell, James Pattinson, Jake Reed, Matt Short, Blake Thomson and Guy Walker.
