Indoor cricket offers many opportunities to develop your skills, increase your fitness and play cricket with your friends in a fast-paced, exciting environment!

Many of the indoor sports centres across Victoria offer both junior and senior competitions, and with the compact size of the court, everyone can be involved in the action of the game. Games are typically 1-1.5 hours in length with six to eight players involved in an indoor cricket team. The ball is also softer than a regular cricket ball, making the game safer given the smaller playing area.

In Victoria, there are 14 metropolitan and 12 country member centres with over 64,000 participants enjoying playing indoor cricket across the state.

Indoor Cricket has two premier competitions - Superleague, which is played on a Saturday during the winter months, and Majorleague, which is played on a Friday night in the summer.

Opportunities exist for individuals to be involved in all facets of the game - playing, coaching and umpiring. There are also social competitions on offer as well as representative opportunities, both at a national and international level.

Cricket Victoria's state representative indoor cricket sides, The Hammers, boast 13 divisions ranging from 13 & Under Boys / 14 & Under Girls (Juniors), right through to Over 50s (Masters).

Cricket Australia hold three National Championships for state teams to compete for the various division titles with the Indoor Masters held in May, the Indoor Juniors in early July and the most prestigious event, the Indoor Opens, in late July.

The Lord's Taverners Shield is a division incorporated into Cricket Australia's Australian Indoor Open Championships for players with an intellectual disability. A Victorian team competes in this event yearly, and finished runners-up for the national title in 2016.

The tournament is run in conjunction with Lord's Taverners Australia and Sport Inclusion Australia, a national organisation established to increase the sporting and recreational opportunities for all people with an intellectual disability within Australia.
