Bob Parry calls stumps

Long-serving Cricket Australia National Umpire Panel member Bob Parry has announced his retirement from first-class umpiring.

In a career spanning 200 matches at international and domestic level, Parry’s on-field highlights included umpiring one-day and T20 Internationals, as well as four Sheffield Shield finals and two one-day domestic finals.

Parry made his first-class umpiring debut in December 1998 and was promoted to the National Umpire Panel in 2001-02.

He umpired his first international match on January 11, 2002 in an ODI between Australia and New Zealand.

Despite his retirement, Parry will continue his administrative roles as Cricket Victoria Umpire Manager and Umpires Manager for the ICC East-Asia Pacific Development Programme.

“Bob has been a highly-respected member of the National Umpire Panel for more than a decade and Cricket Australia thanks him for his dedication and outstanding service during this time,” CA Acting General Manager Cricket Operations Geoff Allardice said.

“As well as being committed to his on-field performance, he is passionate about the development, education and training of the next generation of umpires.

“He has been a mentor to a number of promising umpires and we’re grateful he will continue to pass on his knowledge and that his experience won’t be lost to Australian cricket.”
