Lasith Malinga delivered a mesmerising spell of T20 bowling when he captured 6-7 against the Perth Scorchers in BBL|02.

The Scorchers batsmen had no answers as the slinging quick first delivered a barrage of yorkers and then made the tail look silly with his slower ball.

The Stars sent the home side into bat with rain around and James Faulkner picked up the key wicket of Herschelle Gibbs in the opening over.

There was no sign of things to come when Malinga took the second over with three runs coming from his opening four deliveries.

His fifth was a trademark inswinging yorker that beat Marcus North all ends up, the off-stump cartwheeling out of the ground.

His second dismissal in the following over, which was a maiden, was March Stoinis who looped one to gully after the ball had stopped on the pitch.

Malinga ended his first two-over spell with the figures of 2-3.

He returned in the ninth over, when the Scorchers were 5-53, and shifted his mode of attack from yorkers to slower balls.

He had Hilton Cartwright caught at mid-wicket after he was through the shot too early and then two balls later trapped Coulter-Nile in front.

Malinga picked up his fifth victim with the second delivery of his final over with another slower ball that had Tom Triffitt LBW, with his sixth wicket coming three balls later when he knocked over Joe Mennie with his change-up ball.

Malinga’s spell was the second-best figures ever recorded in domestic T20 as Perth notched the lowest score in Australian Twenty20s.
