Premier Cricket Officer

Cricket Victoria is one of Australia's leading sporting organisations and carries the responsibility of developing cricket throughout the State. With the recent qualification into the Champions League Twenty20 Tournament, the DEC Victorian Bushrangers and Cricket Victoria (CV) are set to market themselves on the world stage.
Due to an internal promotion we are seeking to fill the role of Premier Cricket Officer.

The Premier Cricket Officer is responsible for co-ordinating the Premier Cricket Department including assisting the Premier Cricket Manager, Umpiring Department, liaising with Premier Clubs and Umpires and providing secretarial support as required.

You will have experience in:
• Proving administration support
• Providing exceptional levels of customer service
• Maintenance of statistics, websites, newsletters etc
• Organising events and project management

To be successful in this role you will hold a tertiary qualification in business or a related discipline and have demonstratable administration experience in previous positions. You will have exceptional written and verbal communication, along with the ability to develop relationships and be able to work under pressure.

The salary range for this position is $37 to $40K plus superannuation depending on experience.

This position is based at Cricket Victoria in Jolimont.

Premier Cricket Officer Position Description

Development Events Manager

The International Cricket Council is the global governing body for the sport. The ICC Development Department’s role is to promote cricket throughout its 94 Associate and Affiliate Member countries. We are currently looking for a Development Events Manager who will be primarily responsible for leading, overseeing and implementing the dynamic and rapidly expanding events structure/content of the Pepsi ICC Development Programme. This position will be based at our headquarters in Dubai.

This self-motivated and independent worker will be required to:

  • Plan and manage all aspects of the ICC Intercontinental Cup first-class international competition – from costing to implementation
  • Plan and manage all aspects of all of the Global Divisions of the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League (currently 3-4 events per year)
  • Manage, maintain and implement hosting and participation nation agreements
  • Act as Tournament Director at such events overseeing the roles of each host nation’s Tournament Manager and Organising Committee
  • Ensure best practice / high standard execution and on-budget delivery of all ICC development events, including those staged by the Pepsi ICC Regional Development Programmes
  • Be ultimately responsible for other development event related areas, including but not limited to;
  • Player eligibility issues and management/recording;
  • Tournaments’ data-base and records;
  • Development events’ promotion and liaison with other Departments;
  • Special assignments and projects, etc.

The person will ideally have the following:

  • Proven and successful event management and experience in international sporting competitions – especially in an amateur environment
  • Sound event planning skills with an attention to detail and an ability to work with volunteers and administrators
  • Strong budgeting and financial management abilities
  • An ability to travel internationally for extended periods
  • Experience in dealing with the challenges of cultural diversity
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills (meeting papers, presentations, reports)
  • An understanding of, and passion for, cricket and its global development
  • A working knowledge of sport sponsorship, Government opportunities and funding
  • Degree level education in a relevant discipline.

Regional Development Manager – East Asia Pacific

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the global governing body for cricket. Its Development Programme has specific strategic objectives aimed at the sustainable development and strengthening of the sport globally.
 
East Asia - Pacific (EAP) is one of five regional offices within the Pepsi ICC Development Programme. This important role is charged with planning, managing and delivering a range of cricket development programmes across the ICC’s ten Member nations within the EAP region. The role will be based in Melbourne and report directly to the ICC Development Programmes Manager who is based in Dubai. 
 
The role supervises a small team and is responsible for managing the regional budget. Functional focuses are diverse and include oversight of the region’s international tournament structure, player pathways (grass roots to elite) and cricket education programmes (coaching, umpiring and administration).  Assisting Members to achieve sustainable growth by supporting their governance, administration, revenue raising and cricket promotion efforts is also pivotal.

The successful candidate is likely to possess:
• proven management, administration and budgetary experience;
• highest level communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively with a varied range of stakeholders from different backgrounds across cultural and national identities;
• proven strategic planning and implementation attributes;
• experience in performance management;
• skills in developing partnerships across various sectors including corporate, government, non-government and media;
• understanding of best practice sport development principals;
• a thorough understanding of the game of cricket;
• relevant tertiary qualifications;
• independence and a self starter attitude.
 
As part of the role extensive travel will be required.

High Performance Manager - Vanuatu Cricket

Vanuatu Cricket is looking to appoint an experienced cricket coach to the role of High Performance Manager to ensure that our player and coach development systems meet the high standards required for international competition. This is a great opportunity for a coach to take an exciting step in their coaching career and make a difference at a national level with a country that is highly motivated with enormous untapped potential, and with a young side competing in the World Cricket League.

Based in Port Vila and reporting to the Director Elite Development and the General Manager, Vanuatu Cricket’s High Performance Manager is charged with the responsibility for establishing a sustainable High Performance Program that supports the ongoing development of Vanuatu National Teams across all levels.

With a minimum Level 2 Coaching Accreditation, the successful applicant will have experience in the design and implementation of player development systems and demonstrated elite or elite development coaching experience. Being a self starter with the ability to plan strategically and implement your plans is a must for this position.

With Cricket being one of Australia's favourite sports, there is an overwhelming demand for Work Experience placements with Cricket Victoria. Only limited places for Work Experience are available as we also run a Sports Development Program which incorporates a large Work Experience component.
