Yarraville have been powerhouses of the MAACA since its inception in 2015/16, failing to lose a game across the three years of competition.
Croydon won the toss and elected to bat at Hansen Reserve, with Yarraville restricted them to a total of 8/81 from their 30 overs. Yarraville chased the total down comfortably, finishing five wickets down with nine overs to spare.
Ben Davenport was the standout for the victors, taking 2/7 from 2 overs with the ball and backing it up with a solid score of 11 with the bat. Star all-rounder Benjamin Smith was another who impressed, making 14 runs and finishing with tidy figures of 1/8 from 5 overs. Jamie Phillips stood tall for the Ranges making 30 of his side’s 81 runs off his own bat.
Smith was a significant reason for Yarraville’s success across the season, finishing with the most runs in the MAACA competition (113 at an average of 37.67) and claiming the second most wickets (10 at an average of 8.7).
Teammate Zac Ireland (1/16 in the final) was dominant with the ball all season, ending the season as leading wicket taker with 13 scalps.
Congratulations to Yarraville on yet another undefeated season!
