The Kookaburra State-wide Twenty20 Cup is played over the summer with a metropolitan and country club from each of the 16 Victorian cricket regions competing their way through to the final – held at the MCG.
After rescheduling the original match due to rain, both teams finally got out onto the turf with East Belmont winning the toss and electing to bat.
East Belmont set Buckley Ridges a target of 7/100 after recovering from a shaky start of 5/33. Matt Caulfield and Mark Hanley were the stars with the bat adding a collective61 for the sixth wicket.
Buckley Ridges looked strong early on in their innings but were over powered by East Belmont’s bowling attack only managing 9/88 from their 20 overs.
Jerome Teal from East Belmont CC was named man of the match for his 4/9 off four overs.
In the four years of the competition, the regional teams have consistently prevailed as reigning champions.
Cricket Victoria thanks the Victorian Country Cricket League and the Victorian Metropolitan Cricket Union for their help with the coordination of the event throughout the competition.
