All in the Ability

The Vikings, the state’s representative team for cricketers with a disability, will play in a 40-over encounter against Victoria’s second-string side.

“This match will showcase the best 22 cricketers with a disability in Victoria,” Cricket Victoria Community Programs Manager Annie Hateley said.

“Many of them will prepare to demonstrate their talent in the hope of attracting the attention of national selectors.”

The Victorian Minister for Sport and Recreation, The Hon. Hugh Delahunty, MP, will be in attendance on the day to show his support for the all abilities cricket program along with Manningham City Council’s Councillor Jennifer Yang.

“It’s with the support of the Victorian Government, Fitzroy-Doncaster and the grassroots cricket clubs and its volunteers that these cricketers have been given the chance to showcase their skills,” Hateley said.

Annually, all abilities cricketers from across the state gather to compete in a cricket carnival, where the Victorian Vikings are selected.

Sunday’s match provides cricketers with the chance to put their best foot forward in preparation for the carnival.
