The $1.84 million fund will assist in the growth of 29 sport and community organisations that deliver targeted sports programs and services for Victorians with a disability.
During yesterday’s Victorian Vikings v Harmony in Cricket encounter at Fitzroy-Doncaster, the Minister for Sport and Recreation, The Hon. Hugh Delahunty, MP, confirmed the funding would allow Cricket Victoria to continue to trail blaze in all abilities cricket.
“This is the first time anywhere in Australia that cricketers with a disability have had the chance to showcase their skills for their state and I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Cricket Victoria for bringing together such an excellent squad,” Mr Delahunty said at the coin toss.
“Opportunities like these not only promote outstanding talents but provide a great launch-pad for more people with a disability to play cricket.”
Hosted by Fitzroy Doncaster Cricket Club, yesterday’s game was deemed to be a washout in the 18th over with Vikings leaving the crease at 4-92.
