Aussie Premier League Cricket Grand Final to be played on March 20

The pinnacle of Victoria’s biggest standalone Twenty20 tournament will be the centrepiece of a day filled with family fun, which was the year attended by over 5,000 spectators.

The tournament, which was pioneered by the Wyndham Jags Cricket Club in 2014, has now grown to feature 32 men’s teams.

Cricket Victoria Chief Executive Officer Tony Dodemaide said the APLC was a perfect example of the organisation’s “a sport for all” ethos.

“The APLC was created by a couple of passionate cricket fans and has now grown into a tournament encompassing a wide cross section of Victoria’s multicultural community,” Dodemaide said.

APLC Chairman Jay Mohan said the competition was unique within Victorian grassroots cricket.

“The competition’s aim is to be the most diverse and accessible cricket competition within Victoria,” Mohan said.

“The APLC gives players a platform to meet and socialize whilst still having a friendly rivalry among the teams.”

From 2013 to 2015, Cricket Victoria experienced a 248% increase in participation numbers in the South Asian community with the majority of those through the APLC competition.
