Waring who has been employed by Cricket Victoria for four years has extensive experience in running disability programs through his previous roles at the YMCA and Central Highlands Regional Sports Assembly. He also has first-hand experience working with the Grampians Disability Cricket League.
“I’m really excited about this new role,” Waring said.
At present, Cricket Victoria is the only state in Australia to pioneer an All Abilities State team and host its own All Abilities tournament.
“Cricket Victoria is leading the way in All Abilities cricket and it’s exciting to be part of this new initiative,” he said.
Waring will look to work with Cricket Victoria’s Game Development staff to take this program to the next level encouraging a nation-wide All Abilities tournament within the next few years.
In the meantime, he will work closely with the Australian Intellectual Disability Team Coaches (Paul Montgomery and Bruce Nunn) to launch as many Victorian players into the national squad for the Tri Nations series in South Africa later this year.
The Victorian All Abilities team will commence their training schedule shortly.
