Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund boosts Victorian clubs

Cricket clubs across Victoria will be the beneficiaries of a $1.4 million investment into key projects in 2024 as part of the latest round of Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund (ACIF) grants in partnership with Cricket Australia.

A total of 60 projects have been funded in season 2023-24, generating more than $22.1 million in partnered investment with Federal, State and Local Governments.

Across the state, projects successfully funded by the ACIF include new and redeveloped playing fields, new and refurbished training nets, new changerooms or pavilions, shade facilities, lighting and solar panel installation.

Cricket Victoria CEO Nick Cummins said the fund continued to be strongly supported in Victoria.

“Cricket Victoria, in partnership with our cricket clubs, has led the way nationally with the volume of successful applications for the ACIF program,” Cummins said.

“Over the last two years alone we’ve been able to support in excess of 150 cricket facility projects across Victoria, leading to better player experiences and sustained participation.”

Cricket Australia Head of Infrastructure Fiona Baxter said Cricket Australia is pleased to offer continued support for infrastructure through investment into new and upgraded facilities via the ACIF.

“Quality facilities are vital to attracting and retaining participants and to ensuring brilliant experiences for all,” Baxter said.

Cricket Victoria Local Government and Infrastructure Manager, Callum Dean reinforced the importance of facilities as a key asset for the continued growth of Victorian cricket.

“Whether large or small, new and upgraded facilities are essential for retaining participants, fostering growth, and ensuring that cricket continues to be an inclusive sport for all,” Dean said.

The ACIF is open to all clubs, associations, schools, councils and cricket facility managers to assist in providing inclusive and accessible facilities for community cricket to thrive across Australia.
