McDonald’s aim is to ensure all young cricketers have access to a state-of-the-art helmet at their community club, with the company distributing 1,000 units.
“We’re really pleased to partner with McDonalds and their Macca’s On Your Team program,” Cricket Victoria General Manager of Game and Market Development Rohan O’Neill said.
“The focus of their program is grassroots development and participation which links in perfectly with work we do every day.”
“Having access to the right protective equipment is important for our young players and this new partnership with Macca’s On Your Team will allow us to support junior cricketers and clubs even more,” O’Neill added.
Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers batsman Peter Handscomb and VicSpirit wicketkeeper Emma Inglis joined AFL players Dane Swan, Jordan Lewis and Daisy Pearce, along with Victorian basketball stars Chris Goulding and Tess Madgen to launch the program last week.
Fans and families on school holidays converged on Federation Square for the launch with a giant synthetic oval constructed for kids to practice their bowling skills, shoot hoops and kick goals.
Equipment will be distributed to cricket clubs throughout Victoria from August this year.
