Cricket Victoria, CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy sign major new partnership

The new CitiPower Centre is the flagship cricket facility in Victoria and gives the community an unparalleled opportunity to engage with the sport.

Cricket Victoria Chief Executive Tony Dodemaide said the news added to a milestone opening of the facility this weekend.

“We’re delighted to welcome CitiPower to the Victorian cricket family at a very exciting point in Cricket Victoria’s history,” Mr Dodemaide said.

“CitiPower shares our passion for growing communities through cricket. Their long-term commitment to the new CitiPower Centre is testament to the beliefs and values we share as organisations.”

“Our role is to continue to make cricket a sport for all and deliver on that objective in Victoria. CitiPower supports that community focus and is dedicated to building healthier and more resilient communities.”

“The CitiPower Centre is the flagship facility for cricket in this state and we’re pleased this partnership will allow us to further invest in programs which bring cricket to more Victorians across regional and metropolitan areas.”

CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy owns and operates the distribution network (“poles and wires”) that delivers electricity to more than 1.7 million residential and businesses across metropolitan and regional Victoria.

CitiPower Chief Executive Tim Rourke said the partnership delivered key community links for the electricity distributor.

“We’re excited about our new partnership with Cricket Victoria and the opportunity it provides to connect with our customers and give back to local communities,” Mr Rourke said.

“Our sectors may be different, but we share similar values of diversity and inclusion and this is what has helped drive this partnership.”

“We want to support Cricket Victoria in their goal of making the game more accessible and diverse and today’s announcement is just the start of a broader program that will support this vision”

“Like us, Cricket Victoria is focused on supporting participation, regardless of gender, age or ability. The provision of appropriate infrastructure is a fundamental part of enabling Victorians to participate in and benefit from cricket and we’re proud to be backing the newly developed CitiPower Centre.”

“The CitiPower Centre will provide facilities for all levels of cricket participation – from entry to elite – and also shared facilities for use by the entire community,” Mr Rourke said.
