Minister for Sport John Eren joined Cricket Victoria CEO Tony Dodemaide, Cricket Australia Executive General Manager Andrew Ingleton, Member for Frankston Paul Edbrooke and Member for Carrum Sonya Kilkenny on Thursday at Jubilee Park, one of 17 locations across the state sharing in $1.35 million funding for facility upgrades.
New cricket nets at Jubilee Park and RF Miles Reserve will give the 200 cricketers that play at the Frankston Peninsula and Seaford Cricket Clubs new opportunities to train and develop their skills with bat and ball.
The $330,000 project includes upgraded turf and synthetic training pitches at Jubilee Park, and a new four-lane synthetic net facility at RF Miles Reserve.
“It is very pleasing to announce the first cricket facilities to benefit from the Community Cricket Program: On Common Ground with more than $1.35 million in funding allocated,” Dodemaide said.
“Having high standard facilities is crucial to increasing participation in our sport and these 17 projects that will receive funding will go a long way to achieving our vision of being Victoria’s favourite sport and a sport for all Victorians.”
Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia, in partnership with the Victorian Government, is giving is giving Victoria’s grassroots cricket clubs the facilities and infrastructure they need to help maintain Victoria’s title as Australia’s cricket capital.
