NICL 2018 – Week 5 wrap

The Bombers were dominant with the bat against the Kings, comfortably chasing their total of 106. Sisters Chloe and Paris Rafferty led the way with 20 runs apiece.

The Raiders won their second consecutive match easily accounting for Hoppers Crossing 112-57. Australian Women’s World Cup representatives Laura Shaw (19 runs, 3 wickets) and Adelaide Campion (21 runs, 3 wickets) were in the best players for the Raiders.

In the East Women’s zone, Cranbourne were narrow winners over Springvale Seahawks 96-84. Nat Taylor scored 23 runs with the bat, while Marnie Kelly restricted the Seahawks taking 3 wickets.

Monash Tigers remain the team to beat following their 140-50 run win over the Northcote Pirates. In a spread of great contributors for the Tigers, Rhys McKenna stood out with 23 runs and 2 wickets.

The Victoria East Men’s zone hosted their first double-header round of the season with Cranbourne Kings the standout team, taking out 2 victories. Mark Henry stood in the way of the Monash Tigers with 18 runs and 4 wickets, while Luke Baker (15 runs, 2 wickets) led the way in the Kings second match against Bobo’s Diner Sharks.

In the West Men’s Zone, Albury Warriors hosted their first home-round of the season and won their second match, defeating an undermanned Geelong Jets 155-42. Melton Falcons however established themselves as a challenger to the Northcote Knights taking out two victories (70-57 v Albury and 148-42 v Geelong Jets) in their road trip to Albury.

In Friday Night’s matches, Northcote Knights were again dominant defeating Hoppers Crossing 116-57, while North Geelong Supercats continued to impress with a 91-71 victory over Northcote Pirates.
