NICL 2018 – Week 2 wrap

Australian Indoor representative Travis Baker (18 runs, 2 wickets) starred for the Raiders in their 110-55 victory over the youthful Monash Tigers side, while Jay Jhamb (5 wickets) was on song for the Kings in their 140-19 victory over Cricket Southern Bayside (CSB) in their inaugural match in the competition.

Former England Indoor cricketer Ian Leach led the way for CSB with 21 runs and a wicket.

Northcote Knights have shot out to an early lead in the Victoria West competition taking their third victory after a comfortable 122-19 win over the Geelong Jets.

Hoppers Crossing also bounced back following a Round 1 loss, easing past Northcote Pirates 108-62.

However, the match of the round saw Melton Falcons 2 run winners over North Geelong Supercats 119-117. Falcons skipper Brad Jones led the way with the bat scoring 27 runs in a third pair partnership of 47 to steer Melton home.

Victoria’s Women’s NICL competition commences this weekend with Cranbourne Kings looking to defend their title of National Champions. Their first-round match up will be against Hoppers Crossing.

Women’s Premier Cricket Club Essendon Maribyrnong Park (EMP) will also be looking to impress in their inaugural match in the competition against Northcote Knights.
