Windy Hill selected to host Men’s Premier Final

The Grand Final, to be held on 31st March-2nd April, will return to a three-day match for the first time since 2019-20.

A renowned venue in Victorian cricket, Essendon Cricket Club has played at Windy Hill since 1872.

The ground is currently rated in the top 3 grounds in the competition and has already hosted a State 2nd XI match this season.

In Women’s Premier 1st XI, Essendon Maribyrnong Park will meet the winner of this week’s Preliminary Final between Carlton and Melbourne in the One Day Competition  decider which will be held at CitiPower Centre on Sunday 5 March.

Simon Tobin, President of the Essendon Cricket Club said:

“We’re delighted to be hosting the 2022/23 Men’s Premier Grand Final. The ground is in excellent condition, due to the very good work of curator Adam Thorne and his team.”

“We look forward to welcoming everybody to our home and hope as many people as possible can enjoy the 3-day experience.”

The social club will be open providing full dining options, as well as the usual bar and kiosk facilities.

There are numerous public transport options available including nearby Essendon Train Station and tram/bus routes.

The CitiPower Centre and Albert Ground are unavailable to host the Men’s 1st XI Grand Final due to the Australian F1 Grand Prix being staged on the same weekend.

The Men’s Finals series will commence on Saturday 11 March.
