2022-23 CV State and Big Bash award winners announced

Sutherland has been awarded his first Bill Lawry Medal after taking 41 wickets and 467 runs across the Marsh Sheffield Shield season in a breakout year.

Will stepped into the captaincy role while Peter Handscomb was with the Test squad and led the side to four wins and was a key performer in the run of wins to qualify for the Shield Final.

Nicole Faltum becomes a back-to-back winner of the Sharon Tredrea Award, and joins the likes of Belinda Clark, Cathryn Fitzpatrick & Meg Lanning in winning this award multiple times.

Nicole again took on the Victorian captaincy for the WNCL campaign after the WBBL when Sophie Molineux was out with injury and scored her maiden Victorian century against NSW in January.

It was an incredible season for our Dean Jones Medal winner Matt Short, kickstarted by hitting the last ball of the game against NSW for six to win in a rain affected match at the CitiPower Centre.

Matt scored 301 runs across seven matches at an average over 60 and a strike rate above 100.

In Big Bash news, Renegades captain Sophie Molineux was named the Renegades’ WBBL|08 Player of the Season while Aaron Finch was named the Renegades’ BBL|12 Player of the Season.

Englishman Joe Clarke was named the Melbourne Stars’ BBL Player of the Season for a second consecutive season, while Annabel Sutherland took the honours for the WBBL squad.
