With three games across both divisions played, the women’s team were defeated by New South Wales while the men’s team lost to Western Australia before dominating against Tasmania.

In their first match of the day, the Victorian Men’s Imparja Cup team won the toss and elected to bet with Daniel Mock (25) and Rohan Wight (34) getting the team off to a good start.

After losing both openers, Victoria stood at 2-67 with the remaining batsmen building small partnerships to take them to a score of 8-127.

The Victorian bowling attack started well with Josh Eaton (2-32) and Bohdi Walker (2-22) taking the wickets of Michael Bailey (6) and Darcy Short (0) early.

A 33-run knock from Dane Ugle upped the run rate as Bevan Bennell (45*) brought the win home for Western Australia in the final over.

In their afternoon match, the Victorians claimed a 60-run win against Tasmania, setting up a playoff between them and Queensland for top spot on the final day of preliminary matches.

Rohan Wight played a powerful innings, pummelling 61 from 48 deliveries to take Victoria to a score of 4-151.

With the ball, Wade King continued his incredible form, claiming 3-9 from his fours overs to help restrict Tasmania to 8-91.

In the women’s competition, NSW won the toss and elected to bat with openers Ashleigh Gardner (8) and Roxsanne Van-Veen (2) dismissed early.
Nicole Honeysett (15) fell shortly with Kareena Jacobsen-Logan (1-22) snaring her wicket, leaving NSW at 3-30.

Sara Darney (27) and Julie Muir (15*) then combined for a 45-run partnership, taking the NSW total to 5-96.

Jess Martin was the pick of the Victorian bowlers, claiming 2-9 from four overs.

In reply, Fiona Hale and Jacinta Goodger-Chandler (19*) couldn’t replicate their previous two opening stands as Hale was bowled for nine.

Goodger-Chandler tried to keep the scoreboard ticket but the wickets kept falling around her and Victoria fell 34 runs short of the total, completing its innings on 6-62.

The Victorian Women’s Imparja Cup team will play Western Australia in a semi-final today while the men’s team face Queensland in the morning with the semi-finals following.
