South East Sharks claim VicSpirit Under-14 State Championships

The Sharks chased down the Wizards’ total of 93 in 11 overs, without losing a wicket, to claim the title.

Tiana Atkinson was named Player of the Final after she snared 2-11 from five overs opening the bowling and also hit an unbeaten 11 to steer the Sharks home.

Scarlet Saxon-Jones from the Western Spirit was named Player of the Tournament after she was the leading run-scorer in the competition with scores of 17, 24, 20, 40* and 43*.

Her unbeaten 43 in the semi-final was the highest score in the competition alongside the Sharks’ Lucy Cripps who also made 43*.

Cripps was a big influence in the Sharks claiming the title, retiring (at 40) in each of the Sharks’ three finals.

Eloise Allen-Burns, Cleo Saxon-Jones and Zoe Anderton were the equal highest wicket takers in the competition with five dismissals each.

Central Highlands’ Bridie Semmens produced the best bowling figures in the series, claiming 3-2 in the quarter final.
